New music

Take the “JoyRide.”

Released January 30, 2026 through Red House Records, JoyRide is Steve Poltz's fourteenth solo album: ten songs of acoustic Americana, sharp observation, playful detours, and real musicians making real noise.

The album opens with “If It Bleeds It Leads” and travels through “Petrichor,” “At It Again,” “Love a Little Bigger,” “Fixin' Up,” and more—all songs built to find a second life onstage.

The story so far

A songwriter who belongs on the road.

Steve Poltz is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter and guitarist known for folk, Americana, indie-rock spirit, and an instinct for turning any room into part concert, part conversation, and part joyful surprise.

Born in Halifax and raised in San Diego, Steve co-founded The Rugburns and co-wrote songs with Jewel, including “You Were Meant for Me.” Across decades of solo records and near-constant touring, he has built a devoted audience one unpredictable show at a time.

Inside a Steve Poltz show

Songs are only the beginning.

The Steve Poltz Tour is built around connection. A setlist might start the night, but stories, audience energy, and spontaneous ideas decide where it goes.

01

Acoustic songs with a pulse

Folk storytelling, melodic hooks, sharp lyrics, and the kind of guitar playing that can fill an intimate room or carry across a festival field.

02

Stories that take the scenic route

Funny, heartfelt, occasionally strange, and always human—spoken moments become part of the music rather than a break from it.

03

A different night every time

Improvisation and audience connection keep every performance alive. The next turn is often as surprising to Steve as it is to the crowd.
